I ordered the Dragino CS01-LB to monitor power usage of my well pump and deep freezers. It makes a nice addition to my farms growing Lorawan IOT network. Easy to add to an existing chirpstack LoraWan gateway, and Dragino products have wonderful documentation! I had an issue with missing items from the order but Choovio resolved them promptly!

I have deployed three of these and by far of the limited selection of Lorawan power monitors, this seems to be the best. The USA cables (4-2-2 aluminum or similar) are too big for the standard current clamps, but you can order bigger ones off of Amazon along with 3.5mm plugs and make your own. The decoders are available and when you swap transformers just make sure you change the values on the decoder. I use on a single phase system BUT a 220V+Neutral which means I need TWO transformers and the Dragino can handle this configuration.
MAKE SURE MAKE SURE MAKE SURE you send the AT+CCAL=0,0,0,0 command or they will not work properly. Should be fixed the in the future, but now you know.
DO NOT THROW AWAY the box – or at least take a picture – as their is a unique access code on the box you will need. The BLE connection for the Dragino is a game changer. I use MacOS and the BLE Terminal program interacts with the Dragino splendidly.
On my picture, the BEST place to intercept the power was at a standard 2″ LB 90 degree box. I made a 3D printed box for the Dragino *AND* you get extra space for all the wires. Contact me via Choovio if you want that. I can custom make a box if you need it. I will likely print in ABS or PETG to make the box.
I do not use for power metering to save power, but do use it to gauge if my remote cabins are “OK”, monitor for power loss, and make sure idiots didn’t leave a range oven on.
So far, love the new Dragino device.
